Myself & Character: Metaphor Poems
Personal Poem
I reach them, my goals
Tons of hindrances blocking
between myself and the dream
of my life;
Let me go through
let me reach them
This is me;
a wild animal, not knowing
what to do or
where the way is
to achieve its goals
Swimming in the darkness
of unfortunate situations
I would like to give up
and be melting in to
the ground
A confused mouse,
struggling to find the cheese
in a complex maze
willfully putting its efforts
on something useless
A determinate donkey,
that tries to reach its goals
by following others;
yet ending up
in the very beginning
A dead jellyfish,
scientifically proven to be immortal;
I defy all the laws of science,
proving myself wrong and right
at the same time
Yet, after all
I am a courageous human,
overcoming all obstacles
no matter how big or small;
At the end, I reach them
Character Poem (The Young Man from "The Bet" by Anton Chekhov)
Exposed to an inevitable defeat,
he has chosen to accept the bet
where the one who has the lesser
will is selected to lose
Underestimating the power of
a determinate, unstoppable soul
the young man's decision
to prove the banker wrong
It was his hubris
that brought him his biggest
mistake of all,
losing a huge amount of money
that he could've saved
He is Goliath himself,
facing the little David
on the shore near the cliff
with his battle axe
Yet it was the bigger elephant
who lost against the little
ant,
confused,
perplexed,
enraged
The young man
like a healthy flower,
growing in the vast desert
of death and meaningless
life
The young man
like a single fish,
streaming upstream against
the rest thousands fish
putting all of its efforts
The young man
like a lonely dog,
trying to find food on the streets
yet never giving up
knowing that it will end up well
I reach them, my goals
Tons of hindrances blocking
between myself and the dream
of my life;
Let me go through
let me reach them
